Breakin’ Convention 07, billing itself as a celebration of Hip Hop culture, is held at Saddlers Wells in London over May 05-07 Bank Holiday and, if you are that way inclined, you’ll be able to catch crews from around the world doing their thing closer to home because their touring it in May.
It’s a bit more theatre/choreographed/dance troupe orientated than plain street breaking, but it should provide a diversion. The tour will feature the legends Electric Boogaloos from Los Angeles, Brazilian innovator Frank Ejara and French freakers Franck II Louise. DJ support comes in the shape of DMC winners the En4cers.
Acts confirmed for the London leg also include Bill Shannon, a.k.a The Crutchmaster, Austria’s Moving Shadows and the UK’s own D-Physics. You’ll also get the usual DJ’s, open freestyle dance sessions, film screenings and graffiti art commissions by ‘King of the 2 and 5 line’ Blade.
