mp3: the go! team - grip like a vice (night facilities remix).
Well worth a look, something weird.com specialize in exploitation and sexploitation films from the 30’s through to the 70’s.
The Martin Brothers - Stoopit (Original Mix)
Ryan Murgatroyd ft. Tasha Baxter - Funk Country (Micky Slim Mix)
Funkagenda - San Francisco (Micky Slim Bedtime Bomb Mix)

Many believe that you shouldn’t tamper with Daft Punk and then there’s an argument that, in time honoured tradition, much of the stuff the duo do is built around samples anyway, so what the hell.
Anyway, it’ll run and run, and the remixes obviously bring something different, but on a personal level the originals always hit the spot - as anyone who’s seen or heard the recent live sets will testify.
mp3: daft punk - technologic (digitalism highway to paris remix).
It’s early in the mornin’ so for no other reason than that, here’s the two bonus tracks from The Chemical Brothers’ Japanese release of ‘We Are The Night’.
‘Seal’ is a laid back, atmospheric dubby number and ‘No Need’ is a more beat heavy mid-tempo track that’s similar to their older stuff. Here’s a link to the Glastonbury set (password = stepfunk).
mp3: the chemical brothers - seal.
mp3: the chemical brothers - no need.
One of Ninja Tune’s best, Stuart Warren Hill and Robin Brunson, aka Hexstatic bring some electric funk to proceedings on July 2nd with essential new long player ‘When Robots Go Bad’.
This release should see the duo appeal to a wider range of heads and it’s a slight departure/progression from their hip-hop orientated material, with electro firmly the order of the day. The sound’s a combination of old skool and acid house flavours, while both feet have been firmly kept on the funk.
The double A sided single of the more dancefloor friendly ‘Red Laser Beam’, and the smooth Goldfrapp-esque ‘Roll Over’ (vid above), featuring the vocals of Sabirajade, dropped Monday 25th and is a good taster of what to expect.
The guest spots are great and the whole thing ends with three tightly packed tunes, climaxing with the storming ‘Bust’.
Combined with Hexstatics renowned visuals it should be a treat to experience this stuff in a live setting. Also, over here you can pick up the excellent Master-View DVD with free 3-D specs.
mp3: hexstatic ft. sabirajade - roll over.
mp3: hexstatic ft. b+ - freak me.
This has been around for weeks and has appeared on other blogs (get the Mano remix here), but it’s so damn good, plus the excellent video’s just come out, so it’s up.
People are always hating on Kanye because of his mouth and the way he conducts himself (I’ll admit to it), but he keeps coming up with the goods.
Running 10pm - 5am on Friday 6th July, and 9pm - 6am on Saturday 7th July Industrial Rezolution will not only see some excellent sets from leading DJ’s, it’s also a unique visual arts installation in High Definition. Microchunk have been commissioned to play over 8 hours of original content on both nights on the largest indoor screen ever used - just to put it into perspective - it’ll fill the entire arch of the the G-Mex.
Visuals have been created at 8 x High Definition to suit the size of the screen, and the content will be centred around global and historical issues - starting from the Industrial Revolution and ending in the infinite possibilities of the Digital Revolution. They’ve also been asking for everyone to submit their own video clips which will be used on the night.
Listening to the new Dragonette remix got me into a new wave mood and I dug out this Different Recordings release from a couple of years ago.
Basically a compilation of tracks that Alan Braxe worked on in the past, it was a good idea to put everything together in one collection, but there we’re couple of duffers and the bigger tracks have always been strong enough to stand alone.
Hopefully they’ll put a smile on your face in the abscence of anything resembling a summer, here in the UK at least.
mp3: alan braxe & fred falke - most wanted.
mp3: stardust - music sound better with you.
Equally loved and loathed, the smug heiress to a fortune is back in circulation after doing hard time in the choke and strutting out to a hero’s welcome.
Now the charm offensive has begun and Paris (her agents/publicists) has promised to waver her fee for the Larry King interview and to adopt less self-publicising pursuits in favour of helping us poor wretches.
The best thing she could do is disappear, but that’s not going to happen, so expect to see her sitting cross eyed and open legged in a puddle of her own piss, licking something suggestively, some time soon.

New single ‘Take It Like A Man’ from London based Canadian Electro Pop act Dragonette is due out 23rd July through Mercury.
On their own the knowing winks are too pop - trashy for me, but the 70’s porn style video for the single is pretty funny and there’s always the remixes.
Big things are expected from their soon to be released debut long player ‘Galore’ and you’ll have last heard them with their debut single ‘I Get Around’ which was backed by a great Van She remix. They’ve also had the dubious distinction of opening for has-been (wait long enough and we’ll be trendy again) chancers Duran Duran on their US tour.
Having since performed with Basement Jaxx, singer Martina Sorbara has dismissed the output from her earlier singer-songwriter days in her native Canada as ‘tampon music’, although she has carried over her knack for lyrics.
On the remix side of things, pick up a Felix Cartel remix here, the Hoxton Whore’s club mix is well worth a look and here, Fred Falke and Alan Braxe give the song a classy and hypnotic vibe.
mp3: dragonette - take it like a man (falke and braxe remix).
