New single ‘Take It Like A Man’ from London based Canadian Electro Pop act Dragonette is due out 23rd July through Mercury.
On their own the knowing winks are too pop - trashy for me, but the 70’s porn style video for the single is pretty funny and there’s always the remixes.
Big things are expected from their soon to be released debut long player ‘Galore’ and you’ll have last heard them with their debut single ‘I Get Around’ which was backed by a great Van She remix. They’ve also had the dubious distinction of opening for has-been (wait long enough and we’ll be trendy again) chancers Duran Duran on their US tour.
Having since performed with Basement Jaxx, singer Martina Sorbara has dismissed the output from her earlier singer-songwriter days in her native Canada as ‘tampon music’, although she has carried over her knack for lyrics.
On the remix side of things, pick up a Felix Cartel remix here, the Hoxton Whore’s club mix is well worth a look and here, Fred Falke and Alan Braxe give the song a classy and hypnotic vibe.
