KANYE PUNK

28 06 2007

This has been around for weeks and has appeared on other blogs (get the Mano remix here), but it’s so damn good, plus the excellent video’s just come out, so it’s up.

People are always hating on Kanye because of his mouth and the way he conducts himself (I’ll admit to it), but he keeps coming up with the goods.

mp3: kanye west - stronger.

Daft Punk actually works better with Kanye than I thought they woud.

I think anything with the almighty Daft Punk has potential - but Kanye’s worked this one well.

not feeling this track, the sample has been slowed down, and doesn’t sound hot.

it does benefit from upping the b.p.m, but too much and kanye obviously sounds like a chipmunk.

I might like this song if…

1) I happened to be drunk enough.
2) I didn’t have so much respect for the Daft Punk original.
3) Busta Rhymes hadn’t JUST sampled Daft Punk.
4) Kanye West could actually rap.
5) People stopped putting Kanye in the same category of “real hip-hop” as Talib, Common, and Mos Def. I really don’t like to think such a category actually exists, but Kanye isn’t anywhere near any of these other artists lyrically.
6) It was on par with Kanye’s previous material.

Why the negativity? Kanye took a chance, and it’s damn cool. I’m personally tired of the same old shit. It’s about time someone in mainstream hip hop took a big chance.
