HANDY SHANDY

There’s nothing like the touch of a loving hand, but if you’re sans partner/single then you might find yourself returning to the old wanking spanners.  Woody Allen once famously said ‘don’t knock masturbation…it’s sex with somebody you love’ but he married his wife’s daughter so any sex education from the professional neurotic should probably be taken with a pinch of salt, which sounds painful.

I digress, as well as producing with David Holmes and James Lavelle, and being the other half of LCD/DFA that isn’t James Murphy, Tim Goldsworthy also turns out some strikingly good remixes under the Loving Hands moniker and his recent remix of ’To The Sky’ by ethereal indie rockers Maps continues the form.

He’s obviously a busy guy and he’s at the desk for the hotly anticipated Cut Copy album, which might explain why it’s taking so long, so for the time being here’s a couple of remixes that you might not have. ’Binary Love’ from northern rockers The Rakes eponymous debut got the Loving Hands treatment for a remix ep that came out at the end of last year, and it subsequently appeared on the Modular compilation ‘Leave Them All Behind 2′.

The second reworking is of oddly named Aussie odd-balls Dappled Cities Fly, which was made available on the bands myspace page a few months back, and which has some very nice bass action running through/over it. Pick up more Loving Hands goodness in the form of a Radio 4 remix, from a previous post here
