‘Alphabet Assassins’ by Mongrel features no less than eighteen guest spots and is on the debut album ‘Better Than Heavy’ by the supergroup put together by Reverend John Mclure that features Arctic Monkeys drummer Mat Helders, ex Monkeys Bassist Andy Nicholson, Baby Shambles bassist Drew McConnell and London rapper Low Key. Out October 27th, it’s a politically driven mix of rap, dub and hip-hop and the idea behind it came from a desire to give a voice to underground rappers and tackle issues such as the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. In Mclure’s own words ‘…The state of British music bores me to tears and I think it’s time we reflected the greater British music scene rather than just middle class indie boys with guitars around their necks.’
